Job summary

HR GO Group is seeking a technically minded Technical Operator for a night-shift role in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire. You will be first point of contact when production lines stop, performing mechanical fault finding and repairs to keep production moving in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

The role involves night shifts (4 on/4 off, 7pm–7am), supporting line set-ups, changeovers, and working with the Engineering team on maintenance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical skills with fault finding and repairs.
• Experience keeping production lines running and improving uptime.
• Ability to lead and coach other operators in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical fault finding, repairs and adjustments
• Support line set-ups and changeovers
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and production issues
• Support PPM and work with Engineering team
• Identify ways to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
• Complete quality, hygiene, HACCP and H&S checks
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and lead by example
• Help support and coach other operators

Are you mechanically minded, great at fixing problems and looking for your next opportunity with a well-established food manufacturer?

We're looking for a Technical Operator who enjoys getting stuck in, solving problems and keeping production running smoothly. If you have experience fixing machinery, fault finding or working in a fast-paced production environment, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

As a Technical Operator, you'll be the first point of contact when production lines stop, using your mechanical knowledge and problem‑solving skills to get things moving again.

• Carry out mechanical fault finding, repairs and adjustments
• Support line set‑ups and changeovers
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and production issues
• Support PPM and work alongside the Engineering team
• Help identify ways to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
• Complete quality, hygiene, HACCP and H&S checks

What we're looking for

We're looking for a Technical Operator who is:

• Confident fixing machinery and carrying out fault finding
• Practical, hands‑on and able to think calmly under pressure
• A strong communicator who can work well across different teams
• Comfortable taking ownership and showing leadership
• Experienced in manufacturing, engineering or production - food/FMCG experience is desirable
