Job summary

Silcoms II Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Nights CNC Machinist to join our Nights Precision Machining team. You will set up, program and operate CNC machinery to manufacture high-precision aerospace components to exacting standards.

This night-shift role includes a night shift allowance. You will work closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams, reading drawings, selecting tooling, and completing quality documentation to uphold aerospace standards.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and programming CNC machinery in precision engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Experience machining aerospace or similarly regulated components.
• Knowledge of quality inspection techniques and precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Setting up, programming and operating CNC machines to produce precision-engineered components.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and CNC programs.
• Selecting tooling, fixtures, speeds and feeds for efficient machining.
• Editing CNC programs and adjusting offsets where required.
• Carrying out self-inspection using precision measuring equipment.

• Diagnosing machining issues and supporting continuous improvement.

As we continue to grow we're now looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our growing Nights Precision Machining team.

The Role

As a Nights CNC Machinist, you'll be responsible for setting up, programming and operating CNC machinery to manufacture precision aerospace components to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Setting up, programming and operating CNC machines to produce precision-engineered components.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and CNC programs.
• Selecting tooling, fixtures, cutting speeds and feeds for efficient machining.
• Editing CNC programs and adjusting offsets where required.
• Carrying out self-inspection using precision measuring equipment.
• Completing quality documentation and ensuring compliance with aerospace standards.
• Diagnosing machining issues and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Working closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams while maintaining a safe and organised working environment.

About You

You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience operating and programming CNC machinery within a precision engineering environment.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
• Experience machining precision components within aerospace, defence or another highly regulated industry.
• Knowledge of quality inspection techniques and precision measuring equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• A commitment to quality, safety and teamwork.
