Job summary

Silcoms is seeking an experienced Nights CNC Machinist to set up, program and operate CNC machinery for precision aerospace components. You will ensure highest quality while working on a night shift with additional shift allowance.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, selecting tooling and optimizing speeds/feeds, with close collaboration across Engineering, Production and Quality teams to maintain safety and excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and programming CNC machinery in precision engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
• Experience machining aerospace or similarly regulated components.
• Knowledge of quality inspection techniques and precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program and operate CNC machines to produce precision aerospace components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specs and CNC programs.
• Select tooling, fixtures, speeds and feeds for efficient machining.
• Edit CNC programs and adjust offsets as required.
• Carry out self-inspection using precision measuring equipment.
• Complete quality documentation and ensure aerospace standards compliance.
• Diagnose machining issues and support continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to stay safe and organized.

As we continue to grow we're now looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our growing Nights Precision Machining team.

At Silcoms, you'll manufacture high-precision aerospace components for some of the world's leading aerospace programmes, using advanced CNC machinery within a business that continues to invest in its people, technology and future growth.

Please note that this is a night shift role, and you would receive a night shift allowance in addition to your basic salary.

The Role

As a Nights CNC Machinist, you'll be responsible for setting up, programming and operating CNC machinery to manufacture precision aerospace components to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Setting up, programming and operating CNC machines to produce precision-engineered components.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and CNC programs.
• Selecting tooling, fixtures, cutting speeds and feeds for efficient machining.
• Editing CNC programs and adjusting offsets where required.
• Carrying out self-inspection using precision measuring equipment.
• Completing quality documentation and ensuring compliance with aerospace standards.
• Diagnosing machining issues and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Working closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams while maintaining a safe and organised working environment.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience operating and programming CNC machinery within a precision engineering environment.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
• Experience machining precision components within aerospace, defence or another highly regulated industry.
• Knowledge of quality inspection techniques and precision measuring equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• A commitment to quality, safety and teamwork.
