Job summary

Depaul UK is recruiting a Night Young People Support Worker in Durham to help keep residents safe and supported overnight. You will respond to incidents, manage safeguarding concerns and provide practical and emotional support as part of a close-knit team.

The role requires calm, resilience and clear communication, with duties ranging from safety checks, record-keeping and helping residents settle in, to coordinating with day staff and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience in supported housing, homelessness, social care, youth work, security or related care.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment overnight.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies calmly and appropriately.
• Safeguard vulnerable young people and escalate concerns.
• Offer reassurance and support to residents experiencing difficulties.
• Help new residents settle into the service.
• Conduct building, welfare and safety checks.
• Maintain clear and accurate records.
• Communicate effectively with day staff, colleagues and external agencies.
• Support residents to develop resilience and move towards independence.
