Job summary

M4 Talent Group in Worksop invites applications for a reliable Transport Night Operator. This site-based role focuses on day-to-day management and coordination of drivers and drivers’ mates to ensure they are present, prepared, and ready to work safely and on time.

You will handle driver queries, allocate personnel to vehicles and routes, monitor hours under WTD and drivers’ hours regulations, and communicate changes clearly to the team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in transport/logistics environment.
• Good understanding of Working Time Directive (WTD) rules.
• Good knowledge of drivers' hours and working time requirements.
• Confident communicating with drivers and drivers' mates.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to remain calm and make decisions in a busy operational environment.
• Good IT and administration skills.
• Ability to manage changing priorities and last-minute operational requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily arrival and departure of drivers and drivers' mates.
• Check drivers and crews in and ensure they are ready for their scheduled shifts.
• Deal with driver queries and operational issues throughout the night.
• Allocate drivers and drivers' mates to vehicles and routes as required.
• Occasionally plan and allocate drivers to appropriate routes.
• Monitor driver hours, working time and breaks to ensure compliance with WTD and drivers' hours regulations.
• Identify and address any potential compliance issues before they become a problem.
• Communicate changes to routes, schedules and daily requirements clearly to drivers.
• Liaise with the Transport Manager and wider operations team regarding staffing and daily transport requirements.
• Keep accurate records of driver attendance, hours and operational information.
• Assist with dealing with late arrivals, absences and last-minute changes.
• Help maintain a safe, efficient and well-organised transport operation.
• Follow company procedures and ensure drivers and crews do the same.
• Support the wider transport team with general operational duties when required.
