Job summary

CDM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a skilled TIG Welder with proven experience in high-quality pipe welding, specifically autogenous root techniques on J-prep joints. The successful candidate will produce precision welds on stainless steel and exotic alloys used in demanding industrial environments.

Responsibilities include reading isometric drawings, preparing joints, and ensuring adherence to welding procedures and safety standards. Night shifts with competitive PAYE rates accompany this role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in TIG welding on pipework.
• Strong understanding of pipe preparation, fit-up, and welding sequence.
• Ability to weld stainless steel; nickel alloys or duplex is a bonus.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering/isometric drawings.
• Current TIG welding certifications or the ability to test on-site.
• Strong commitment to quality, consistency, and safety.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-precision TIG welding on pipework using autogenous root welding methods (J-prep).
• Fit, align, and prepare pipe joints to exact specifications.
• Produce clean, consistent root passes with strict adherence to welding procedures.
• Weld to coded/PWPS standards where applicable.
• Read and interpret isometric drawings, weld maps, and technical documents.
• Inspect own welds to ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements.
• Work closely with supervisors and QA to ensure all work meets project specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
