Winner Recruitment is recruiting a Temporary Sort Manager for our client’s global parcel operation in the West Midlands (Oldbury/Smethwick area). You will lead a hands-on team of 20–40, manage breaks, throughput and KPI achievement, and oversee loading doors, incidents and health & safety.

The role requires flexibility for nights, full UK right to work, DBS checks, and a full UK driving licence with travel between Oldbury and Smethwick.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory/management experience in parcel, logistics, warehouse or similar.
• Strong communication and people‑management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
• Experience working to KPIs and operational targets.
• Good IT skills, including Google Sheets.
• Full UK driving licence, with flexibility to travel between Oldbury and Smethwick.
• Flexible approach to working hours and changing business requirements.
• DBS and pre‑employment checks will be required.
• No criminal history - DBS checks will be required if successful.
• Must have full time Right to Work.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 20-40 people.
• Manage breaks, workforce utilisation and daily operations.
• Ensure parcel flow and throughput targets are achieved.
• Manage loading doors and support trailer loading.
• Monitor KPIs, performance and compliance.
• Manage incidents and resolve operational issues.
• Communicate with transport and senior management.
• Give clear instructions and follow operational direction.
• Use Google Sheets to monitor and record information.
• Start times may be brought forward during busy periods; flexibility is essential.
