Job summary

The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) is seeking a Quality Inspector for fabrication and welding to join a night-shift team. You will check, measure and document the quality of steel components to ensure everything produced meets drawings and specifications before leaving the workshop.

Training starts on day shift, moving to night shift permanently once confident. You will perform detailed inspections, use calipers, tapes and gauges, record issues, complete inspection reports,

Qualifications

• Confident reading engineering drawings and interpreting tolerances.
• Experience using calipers, tapes and gauges to check dimensions.
• NVQ or equivalent in fabrication or engineering.

Responsibilities

• Carry out detailed inspections on fabricated steelwork to ensure drawings and standards are met.
• Use measuring tools to check dimensions and tolerances.
• Spot and record quality issues and work with supervisors to resolve them quickly.
• Complete inspection reports and quality paperwork accurately.
• Carry out non-destructive testing (NDT) on welded parts.
• Carry out final checks on plain and welded components before release.
• Support continuous improvement across the shop floor.
