Job summary

Contek Recruitment Solutions Ltd in Doncaster is seeking a skilled Night Shift HGV Technician to join a leading automotive logistics operator. You will perform maintenance, diagnostics and MOT preparations on a varied fleet of heavy vehicles, with a Monday–Friday night shift and weekends off.

The role requires Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance qualifications and a full UK driving licence. You will help keep vehicles safe, compliant and available, with opportunities for overtime and ongoing

Qualifications

• Level 3 Qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance is required.
• Experience in a commercial vehicle workshop environment is essential.
• Strong diagnostic capabilities across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems are required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out safety inspections, servicing and scheduled maintenance on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).
• Perform fault diagnosis using advanced electronic equipment and carry out mechanical/electrical repairs.
• Prepare vehicles for annual MOT inspections and MOT testing standards.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle defects efficiently to minimize fleet downtime.
• Complete all workshop paperwork and job sheets accurately to ensure compliance with DVSA guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.

Education

Level 3 Qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)

About the Role

Contek Recruitment Solutions are proud to be working on behalf of our client, a leading national automotive logistics operator, to recruit a skilled Night Shift HGV Technician to join their dedicated workshop facility in Doncaster.

In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the commercial fleet remains fully operational, safe, and compliant. Enjoying a standard Monday to Friday night shift with your weekends completely free, you will handle routine maintenance, diagnostic fault-finding, and MOT preparations on a varied fleet of heavy commercial vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

Key Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience working in a commercial vehicle workshop environment.

• Strong diagnostic capabilities across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

• A full UK Driving Licence (Class 1 / C+E licence is highly advantageous).

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently during night shifts.
