Job summary

Advanced Engineering in Bradford is seeking an experienced Engineering Shift Manager to lead our site's engineering team on a permanent night shift. You will drive maintenance, fault finding and asset care to ensure a safe, compliant and efficient FMCG operation, working 42 hours per week on a 2-2-3 Panama pattern.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, hands‑on repair skills and a track record of improving equipment reliability while keeping product quality high.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an engineering team in FMCG or food manufacturing.
• Strong fault‑finding and proactive maintenance skills.
• Conprehension of HACCP principles and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering team to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the site.
• Minimise downtime through proactive and predictive maintenance, fault finding and rapid response to breakdowns.
• Ensure engineering priorities align with production requirements to minimise disruption to manufacturing.
• Continually identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability and efficiency without compromising product quality.
• Lead and support the site asset care programme, ensuring equipment is maintained to required standards.
• Take a hands-on approach to repairing, maintaining and optimising engineering assets when required.
• Coordinate maintenance activities and priorities with the wider Maintenance and Engineering teams.
• Engage, motivate and develop members of the engineering team, creating a positive and productive working environment.
• Support training and development opportunities to improve engineering capability across the team.
• Take responsibility for crisis and incident management, including investigations and corrective actions.
• Ensure engineering activities comply with health, safety, environmental and food safety requirements.
• Support and manage discipline and grievance processes where required.
• Work collaboratively with production and operational teams to resolve engineering issues effectively.
• Promote a strong continuous improvement culture across the engineering function.
