Job summary

Wagstaff Recruitment seeks an experienced Night Shift Engineer for a leading manufacturer in Ely, Cambridgeshire. The role is permanent, nights Sunday to Thursday, 10pm–6am, offering £46,000–£47,000 per year plus overtime and benefits.

You will provide electrical & mechanical support for production equipment and site services, handling PLCs, automation, and ongoing improvements. Candidates should be electrically biased, apprenticeship trained or time-served, with FMCG packaging experience and

Qualifications

• Must be an electrically biased engineer with electrical & mechanical qualifications.
• Experience in FMCG or packaging manufacturing is preferred.
• 17th/18th Edition Electrical, electrical testing & inspection experience.
• Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical & mechanical support & repairs for all production equipment & site services.
• Fix production machinery, conveyors, automation & controls, PLCs, site services.
• Support with project work – new machine & production line installs.
• Carry out PPMs and fault finding, perform machine upgrades.

Night Shift Engineer
Ely, Cambridgeshire

£47,000 + Overtime

Do you want to work for a leading manufacturer that has been established the local area for a number of years. Due to site investment and development, they are looking for an experienced night shift engineer to join their close knit team.

Role & responsibilities of a maintenance engineer:

• Provide electrical & mechanical support & repairs for all production equipment & site services
• Fixing production machinery, industrial processing equipment, conveyors, packaging machinery, automation & controls, PLC’s, site services & facilities
• Supporting with project work – new machine & production line installs
• PPM’s, electrical & mechanical fault finding, problem solving, machine upgrades

Knowledge, skills & experience need to be a maintenance engineer:

• Must be an electrically biased engineer
• Apprenticeship trained or a time-served engineering with electrical & mechanical qualifications
• Previously worked in FMCG or packaging manufacturing
• 17th / 18th Edition Electrical
• Electrical testing & inspection experience
• Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working as sole engineer on nights
• Strong electrical & mechanical fault finding & problem solving skills
• PLC – electrical fault finding
• Experience of carrying out CI projects, new machine installations
