Job summary

Hunter Selection Limited is seeking a maintenance engineer for a leading food manufacturer in the Cambridge area. You will support preventative and reactive maintenance across production and packaging lines, and participate in installing new machinery as part of project work.

The role requires fault finding in electrical and mechanical systems, PLC controls, and a willingness to work as part of a small team with a 1 in 3 call-out rota. Experience in FMCG and Level 3 engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

• Electrical or mechanical bias with electrical fault finding capability.
• Experience in fast-paced manufacturing, preferably food/FMCG.
• Time-served apprenticeship and Level 3+ engineering qualification.
• Able to fault-find PLCs and mechanical/electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Support PPM and reactive maintenance across production and packaging machinery, site services and facilities.
• Perform electrical and mechanical fault finding, repairs and problem solving.
• Install new machinery and participate in project work.
• Handle PLC electrical fault finding and associated controls work.
• Work on conveyors, mixers, baggers, production lines and related equipment.

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm + 1 in 3 Week Call Out Rota

Our client is a leading food manufacturer that is part of a larger European Group. Due to an up and coming retirement, they are looking for a maintenance engineer, to join their close knit team.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for supporting PPM's and reactive maintenance across all site production & packaging machinery, site services & facilities
• Electrical & mechanical fault finding, problem solving and repairs
• New machinery installations, project work
• PLC - electrical fault finding
• Worked on conveyors, mixers, baggers, production lines, packaging machinery, elevators, metal detectors, stitchers, labellers, scanners

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Open to either electrical or mechanical biased engineers, but must have electrical fault finding capabilities
• Must be comfortable working in a small team, flexible to working a call out rota
• Ideally have completed a time-served-apprenticeship
• Level 3 qualified or higher in engineering
• Electrical & mechanical fault finding skills
• Must have previously have worked in fast-paced manufacturing, ideally food / FMCG
• PLC - electrical fault finding
• Mechanical fabrication, fitting, and welding skills would be beneficial
• Must have worked with pneumatics & hydraulics
• Ideally have a varied career, comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
