Job summary

KSB Recruitment is seeking a Trainee Artisan Baker for a reputable artisan bakery in Chatham, Kent. The role focuses on learning sourdough production, laminated pastries, and high-cleanliness standards within a quality-driven team.

You will start with hands-on training, work night shifts from around midnight to 1am, and progress into greater responsibilities as you develop artisan baking skills. Salary is £30,000 with a 4-day week (Thu-Sun).

Qualifications

• Previous work experience in a professional kitchen is essential.
• Previous experience working night shifts is essential.
• A genuine eagerness to learn and develop skills in artisan baking.
• Must drive, due to early start times.
• Physically fit for demanding manual work.
• Reliable, hardworking and keen to learn, with a positive attitude towards scratch baking.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the production of sourdough bread, baguettes and buns to a strict, consistent method.
• Learning how to handle and work with large volumes of dough as part of daily production
• Supporting laminated pastry production alongside bread
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and bakery organisation
• Working closely with the team, developing your skills and taking on more responsibility as your training progresses
