Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a night security lead to oversee a team of around 12 in-house officers across the university estate. You will operate as manager on duty during night shifts, assess risks and respond to incidents with a calm, professional approach, ensuring trust and safety across the site.

The role requires SIA CCTV and Door Supervision licences, experience in managing a security team, and the ability to work a four-on, four-off 12-hour shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead and support security staff.
• Strong risk assessment and incident response skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage confidential information and adapt to a 24-hour operation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the night security team, setting clear direction and standards.
• Act as manager on duty overnight, working independently.
• Assess risks, make informed decisions and respond to incidents.
• Escalate matters to the on-call Senior Manager when needed.
• Oversee security operations across the university estate, including academic buildings and student accommodation.
• Set clear expectations for professional conduct, boundaries and service delivery.
• Ensure a professional, effective and responsive service with excellent customer service.
• Lead by example in treating everyone with dignity, fairness and respect.
• Handle challenging situations, including those involving student mental health.
• Respond appropriately to concerns about harassment or misconduct.
