Job summary

Wilson James is seeking a Night Security Officer for a fully night-time role in York. The position runs a 4 on/4 off pattern from 19:00 to 07:00, with pay at £13.45 per hour. Responsibilities include patrols, monitoring CCTV, and responding to incidents to keep staff, visitors and assets secure.

The role requires a current DS SIA licence, strong observational and communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure across diverse client sites.

Qualifications

• Current DS SIA Licence required.
• Proven security experience or similar role.
• Strong observational skills and ability to identify threats.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with staff, visitors and authorities.
• Ability to stay calm and decisive in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Greet staff and visitors; maintain a safe, professional atmosphere.
• Conduct regular patrols and monitor premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft or vandalism.
• Monitor access points, CCTV and implement security procedures.
• Respond to alarms, emergencies and incidents and take appropriate action.
• Complete detailed reports of daily activities and security concerns.
• Assist in emergencies including evacuations and first aid support if required.
• Adapt to different client sites and work as part of a diverse team.

About the Role:

As a Night Security Officer, you will be responsible for:

• Welcoming staff and visitors and creating a safe, professional atmosphere
• Conducting regular patrols and monitor premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft, or vandalism.
• Monitoring access points, CCTV, and handling security procedures
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Complete detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and any security concerns.
• Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support if required.
• Adapting to different client sites – no two days are the same
• Responding calmly and confidently to incidents or concerns
• Working as part of a diverse, supportive team

What we are looking for:

• To hold a current DS SIA Licence
• Proven experience in a security role or a similar position.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and respond to security threats.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and authorities.
• Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
