Job summary

MedMatch Group is seeking a Night Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join its Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) team in Merseyside. You will work overnight with experienced ECC vets on first-opinion and referral inpatients, providing top-tier care and accurate record-keeping.

The role offers 7 nights on, 14 nights off (0.75 FTE, ~31–33 hrs/week) with a salary of £33,000–£40,000 pro rata plus bonus. RCVS-registered nurses and those keen on advanced diagnostics are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse qualification is required.
• Experience in emergency/critical care is preferred.
• Comfort working night shifts and handling high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

An established independent veterinary hospital in North West England is looking for a Night Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its emergency and critical care (ECC) team, working alongside experienced ECC vets on first-opinion and referral inpatients overnight.

THE ROLE

• Handling out-of-hours calls and supporting emergency triage
• Assisting with acute emergency and critical care cases
• Overnight care for first-opinion and referral inpatients
• Admitting and triaging routine and emergency referrals
• Supporting complex anaesthesia and intensive patient monitoring
• Running in-house lab tests and assisting with diagnostics
• Managing feeding tubes, catheters and transfusion medicine
• Accurate clinical records and clear handovers to the day team

FACILITIES

CT, endoscopy, ultrasound, comprehensive in-house lab, infusion pumps and syringe drivers, on-site blood products, and full referral-level clinician support.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

An RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse who is:

• Passionate about emergency, critical care and inpatient nursing
• Confident working under pressure on busy night shifts
• Experienced in complex anaesthesia and critical inpatient care (or keen to develop)
• Compassionate with clients during emergencies
• A strong team player with excellent record-keeping

Experience with feeding tubes, catheters, transfusion medicine and complex anaesthesia is a bonus, not a requirement.

WHAT'S ON OFFER
