Job summary

VetMatch seeks an experienced RVN for an Out-of-Hours ECC role in a busy 24-hour hospital. You’ll work with a dedicated night vet and nursing team, delivering overnight care for a diverse ECC caseload.

You will manage emergencies, support complex surgeries, and participate in diagnostics and patient monitoring within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Must be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse.
• ECC or out-of-hours experience is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and make clinical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor emergency and critical care patients.
• Support emergency surgeries including caesareans, pyometras and exploratory procedures.
• Nurse complex medical cases and perform clinical workups and diagnostics.

Are you an experienced RVN with a passion for emergency and critical care?
This busy, RCVS-accredited 24-hour hospital is seeking an Out-of-Hours Veterinary Nurse to join its dedicated night team. This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys clinical autonomy, and wants exposure to a diverse and rewarding ECC caseload.
Working alongside a dedicated night vet, nursing team, and support staff, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional overnight patient care while managing a wide range of medical and surgical emergencies.

The Role

• Managing and monitoring emergency and critical care patients
• Supporting emergency surgeries including caesareans, pyometras and exploratory procedures
• Nursing complex medical cases
• Performing clinical workups and diagnostics
• Delivering high standards of inpatient care and monitoring
• Working closely with the night veterinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes

About You

• RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
• Previous ECC or out-of-hours experience preferred
• Confident working independently and making clinical decisions
• Strong inpatient care and anaesthesia monitoring skills
• Passionate about delivering exceptional patient care
• Keen to continue developing your ECC knowledge and skills

This hospital offers an outstanding clinical environment, supporting both first-opinion and emergency referrals from a large network of local practices. You'll gain exposure to a varied and challenging caseload while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team.
The practice is equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities including CT, laparoscopy, advanced ultrasound, endoscopy, transfusion medicine, dental radiography, and dedicated species-specific wards, providing nurses with the tools and support needed to deliver the highest standards of care.

The Package

• Salary: £30,000
• 27-hours pw
• 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota
• £500 CPD allowance
• Certificate support encouraged
