Job summary

Sue Ryder is seeking a Night Registered Nurse in Leeds at Wheatfields Hospice. You will provide clinical leadership, assess and deliver personalised care, and support junior staff across 36.75 hours weekly, including nights.

The role emphasises evidence-based practice and compassionate end-of-life care. The successful candidate will have NMC registration and experience in palliative or neurological care, with the ability to work within a team and independently.

  • Experience in neurological or palliative care is desirable.
  • Able to work both within a team and independently.

36.75 hours per week (3/4 nights per week)

£15.56 – 17.80 per hour (plus 30% night enhancement) - dependant on experience and continuation of NHS Pension

You’ll be responsible for…

  • Providing support, leadership, recognition and supervision to junior members of staff
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised clinical care for service users
  • Using evidence-based practice to develop and maintain high-quality care
  • Ensuring that the team provide all care in line with the care plan.
  • Helping to organise the admission and discharge of service users

Shift pattern is 7 nights over a 2 week period working 4 one week and 3 the next (alternate weekends).

NMC Registered Nurse
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Knowledge of current legislation within the independent care sector
  • Experience in neurological or palliative care is desirable

Minimum Essential criteria:

  • NMC registration and experience delivering inclusive patient care
  • Ability to assess, plan, and deliver care with appropriate adjustments
  • Skilled in accessible documentation and patient communication
  • Commitment to upholding patients’ dignity, rights, and autonomy
Desirable criteria:
  • Experience in palliative or hospice care
  • Mentorship qualification or experience supporting learners
