Job summary

Arriva UK Bus is seeking skilled Engineers to join our growing teams across the business. You’ll maintain and improve our fleet and infrastructure, ensuring vehicles stay safe, reliable, and fully operational for millions of passengers daily.

We’re looking for PSV/HGV/mechanical/vehicle engineers with a strong diagnostic mindset, health and safety focus, and the ability to work independently or with the team to deliver high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in PSV or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
• Experience as PSV Engineer, HGV Technician, Bus Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Mechanical Engineer, or Heavy Vehicle Engineer.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills in a workshop or fleet environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; good health and safety understanding.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on buses, PSVs, vehicles, and engineering equipment
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using advanced diagnostic tools and equipment
• Complete repairs, modifications, and upgrades in line with DVSA, safety, and engineering standards
• Support fleet reliability through effective fault finding and technical problem solving
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
• Maintain accurate engineering records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation
• Work collaboratively with workshop teams, supervisors, and operational departments
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve vehicle reliability and workshop efficiency
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and apprentices where required
