Job summary

Winchester Royal Hotel is seeking a reliable Night Porter to join our team in Winchester. You will help keep the hotel safe overnight, look after guests, and prepare the property for the day ahead.

Responsibilities include handover from reception, security patrols, managing entry after 23:00, responding to alarms, handling guest check-ins via Guestline, assisting with luggage, and supporting early morning setup for breakfast and events. Training provided and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Able to work alone, stay calm under pressure and use your initiative.
• Reliable, honest and well presented.
• Experience with Guestline or night audit is a bonus, but full training is given.
• Flexible to work nights, weekends and bank holidays.
• Able to commute reliably to Winchester.

Responsibilities

• Take a handover from the late receptionist or Night Manager at the start of each shift.
• Carry out 2 security patrols per shift, checking that entry points are locked, fire exits are clear and fire doors are closed.
• Manage entry to the hotel after 23:00 and answer the front door promptly.
• Respond to fire alarms and emergencies, following the hotel’s procedures.
• Answer the phones, check guests in and out on Guestline, and help with luggage and requests.
• Serve hotel residents at the bar after hours, then clear down and restock.
• Cover the Night Audit when needed.
• Set up the bar and restaurant for breakfast, and set up rooms for conferences, weddings and functions.
• Polish cutlery and glassware, order and deliver newspapers, and log housekeeping items for the morning team.
• Complete the Night Team Checklists on Riskproof and record maintenance issues in the Maintenance Log.

Winchester Royal Hotel is an 81-bedroom hotel in the heart of Winchester, and we’re looking for a reliable, guest-focused Night Porter to join our team. You’ll keep the hotel safe and secure overnight, look after our guests, and get everything ready for the day ahead.
