Job summary

Birmingham Hospice is seeking a Health Care Assistant to join the 24/7 SPUR service, delivering compassionate palliative care in patients\' own homes during night shifts. You\'ll work with dedicated nurses to support patients and families, ensuring high-quality care and timely response.

Applicants should have Level 3 NVQ in health or social care (or be willing to work towards it), plus English and maths GCSEs, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ in health or social care or willingness to work towards it.
• Experience in a care role in health care or related field.
• Competent in English and Maths (GCSE level or equivalent).
• Ability to work nights and flexibly.
• Ability to use initiative and prioritise workload.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Competent IT skills including databases, email, and Word.
• Must be a car owner/driver with access to a vehicle or have access to a driver.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and support to palliative patients in their own homes.
• Work overnight as part of the SPUR team alongside urgent response nurses and clinical nurse specialists.
• Adapt to changing needs of patients and their families with sensitivity to spiritual, psychological and social needs.
