Job summary

St Catherine’s Hospice, Lancashire, is seeking a compassionate Home Nursing Assistant to support patients at home under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will provide personal care, practical support and reassurance to patients and families, helping them stay at home where appropriate.

Applicants should have care experience, excellent communication and teamwork skills, and be flexible to work across community and inpatient settings. A full driving licence and car access are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a care environment.
• Caring, respectful and positive approach with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Resilience and flexibility to work effectively in a palliative care setting.
• A full driving licence and daily access to a car.

Responsibilities

• Provide dignified personal care and emotional support in line with individual care plans.
• Support patients to remain at home where possible and appropriate.
• Recognise and report changes in a patient’s condition or circumstances.
• Use safe moving and handling techniques and respond appropriately in urgent situations.
• Maintain accurate written and electronic care records.
• Communicate sensitively with patients, families and healthcare professionals.
