Job summary

Marie Curie is recruiting a Healthcare Assistant for the Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service, covering Middlesbrough. You will work up to 27 hours per week with 9-hour night shifts (10pm–7am) on a permanent contract, visiting one patient per evening and providing compassionate, one-to-one care in patients' homes, plus practical and emotional support to families.

The role requires NVQ Level 2/3, palliative care experience, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• S/NVQ Level 2/3 qualification or an equivalent certificate/diploma.
• Relevant palliative community experience.
• Emotional strength and the ability to work on your own, with ongoing training and support.
• Recent experience of providing care for people with life-limiting illness or palliative needs.
• Be a UK licensed driver with access to a car and business insurance, with travel up to 25 miles from home.

Responsibilities

• Visit one patient per evening and provide compassionate, one-to-one care in patients' homes.
• Offer practical and emotional support to families during end-of-life care.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene, monitor symptoms, and support medicines as per care plan.
• Maintain accurate records and provide reassurance to patients and families.
