Job summary

WeMaintain is hiring a Night Escalator Engineer based in South East London. You will join the Field Operations team on a 4 nights on / 4 nights off pattern, maintaining and repairing escalators across customer sites while ensuring safety and reliability.

This role emphasizes detailed night-time maintenance, fault-finding and responsible decision-making, with opportunities to improve equipment reliability and contribute to long-term safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience maintaining, diagnosing and repairing escalators.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills with ability to read drawings/schematics.
• NVQ Level 3 in lift/escalator or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently during night shifts with sound technical judgment.
• Thorough understanding of safe working practices including risk assessments and lock-off procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Keep escalators running safely and reliably through planned maintenance and detailed inspections.
• Identify worn parts and signs of failure; recommend corrective work.
• Diagnose, repair, and aim for first-time fix where possible.
• Carry out repairs and component replacements as required.
• Maintain safety standards and document interventions with clear handovers.
