Job summary

Smiths News in the UK is seeking a Deputy Depot Night Manager to lead one of our shift operations and ensure the accurate, timely delivery of newspapers and magazines to retailers. You will report to the Depot Manager and drive a safe, efficient night operation.

You will supervise staff, provide training, produce reports, monitor risks, maintain health and safety standards, and help manage the budget. The role calls for strong communication, IT skills (MS Office) and a proven warehouse

Qualifications

• Track record of success in a warehouse environment in a management position.
• Experience in fast-paced environments and managing large operations.
• Ability to liaise with multiple levels of staff and management.
• Strong communication skills and relationship-building capabilities.
• Experience planning and executing a night operation and addressing issues as they arise.
• Tenacity and focus in meeting targets and delivering client satisfaction.
• Confidence with IT systems and software, especially MS Office.
• Strong business acumen and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff, provide training and coaching, and identify training needs.
• Provide accurate reports highlighting challenges or successes.
• Collaborate with management to identify risks and improve processes.
• Maintain high health and safety standards at all times.
