Job summary

Smiths News in Newport Pagnell is looking for a Deputy Depot Night Manager to lead a night shift in the depot, ensuring timely delivery of newspapers and magazines to retailers.

You will supervise staff, provide training, produce reports, manage risks, maintain health and safety, and work to budgets and forecasts, requiring strong communication and IT skills and a proven warehouse management track record.

Qualifications

• Track record of success in a warehouse environment in a management position.
• Experience in a fast paced environment.
• Experience of planning and effectively executing a night operation.
• Ability to meet and exceed targets and deliver an outstanding client experience.
• Excellent business acumen and strong commercial and financial awareness.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with all team members and management.
• Computer literacy and confidence with IT systems, including MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Supervising all staff, providing training and coaching and identifying training needs.
• Providing accurate reports that highlight any challenges or successes.
• Working closely with the management team to identify potential risks.
• Maintaining a high level of health and safety at all times.
• Ensuring compliance with legislation and company policy.
• Working to an annual set budget and forecast.
