Job summary

Smiths News plc is seeking a Warehouse Shift Manager to lead the night shift operation in our depot, ensuring timely delivery of newspapers and magazines to retailers.

You will supervise staff, provide training, and collaborate with management to mitigate risks while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance. A strong track record in warehouse leadership and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a fast paced environment.
• Managing a large operation and liaising at all levels.
• Outstanding communication skills and the credibility to build relationships.
• Experience planning and executing a night operation and handling issues as they arise.
• Tenacity and ability to meet/exceed targets and deliver client experience.
• Good business acumen and financial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Supervising all staff, providing training and coaching and identifying training needs.
• Providing accurate reports that highlight challenges or successes.
• Working with management to identify potential risks.
• Maintaining high health and safety standards at all times.
• Ensuring compliance with legislation and company policy.
• Working to an annual set budget and forecast.
