Job summary

Transportukbus is seeking a PSV Chargehand Nights at Hayes Depot to lead a shift, supervise repairs and maintenance of the bus fleet, and ensure work meets safety and quality standards.

You will inspect, diagnose faults, delegate tasks, and liaise with the Fleet Manager to plan, with flexibility for occasional Service Manager duties when needed. 12-hour shifts, permanent contract, £24.90/hour.

Qualifications

• Must have NVQ level 2 maintenance/repair for PSVs or HGVs.
• IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician qualification evidenced by awarding body.
• Current recognised qualifications in hybrid awareness and hybrid fault diagnostics.
• PCV licence is desirable but not essential; training to drive our buses may be provided.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, repairing and maintaining our buses.
• Checking the quality of our repairs.
• Investigating and diagnosing mechanical and electronic faults.
• Recording faults and work performed using a tablet.
• Making decisions about road calls.
• Liaising with iBus and engineering to avoid lost mileage.
• Delegate work to the team and monitor outputs.
• Following safety instructions and reporting issues.
• Regularly updating the Service Manager on progress and helping with planning.
• Potentially taking on some Service Manager responsibilities when away.
