Job summary

Transportukbus is seeking a PSV Chargehand Nights at Walworth Depot to oversee maintenance of the bus fleet. You report to the Fleet Manager, ensure high-quality repairs, and manage a team across 12-hour shifts (four days on/off). A relevant NVQ Level 2 and hybrid qualifications are required, with IRTEC/SMT certifications preferred. PCV licence desirable.

Role involves diagnostic work, tablet-based records, and occasional responsibility growth when the Service Manager is away.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 (P.S.V./HGV) or equivalent.
• Hybrid awareness and hybrid fault diagnostics qualifications.
• IRTEC and SMT qualifications from awarding body.
• PCV licence desirable; training to drive our buses available.
• Strong maths and English; able to read and understand service manuals.
• Experience with fleet management computer systems.
• Willingness to learn and work flexible shifts.
• Work safely with a team and take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair and maintain buses to high standards.
• Check quality of repairs and diagnose faults.
• Record faults and work in a tablet-based system.
• Delegate tasks and monitor outputs within the team.
• Plan alongside the Service Manager and adapt to depot needs.
• Ensure safety procedures and compliance are followed.
• Support the Service Manager when they are away.
