Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a dedicated Patient Placement Representative for the Admissions Transfer Center. This role supports admissions and transfers across a 16-hospital system, handling patient access, registration, and insurance verification to ensure timely admissions.

The position requires a high school diploma (GED) and 2 years in a medical/healthcare or customer-focused setting; EPIC experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two years of work experience in a medical office, call center, healthcare entity and/or customer service environment.
• EPIC experience is preferred; familiarity with registering patients, insurance knowledge and customer service.
• Demonstrated professionalism with ability to work with coworkers and MUSC community.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a busy environment.
• Experience with computers and technology including Windows, Excel, and intranet/internet navigation.
• Strong verbal, written, proactive problem solving and presentation skills.
• Ability to work in a self-directed manner while interacting with customers and providers.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient access and registration functions for the MUSC system.
• Provide high level customer service to MUSC clients and team members from multiple entities.
• Prepare patient accounts for billing to maximize payments.
• Facilitate timely completion of Admit Transfer Center registration and Telehealth appointments.
• Verify insurance data and patient demographics for pre-admission and admission.
