Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset is recruiting for a Band 3 Retail Catering role at Royal Bournemouth Hospital in Bournemouth. The post holder will oversee daily operations of the hospital’s retail restaurant outlets, ensure food safety and hygiene, and train staff to deliver high-quality service to staff, patients and visitors.

The role involves supervising staff, managing stock and allergens, and contributing to the rollout of new catering facilities scheduled for mid-2027.

Qualifications

• GCSE grade 4-9 (A* to C)
• NVQ level 3 / equivalent related catering field
• Experience of working within an NHS environment
• Previous supervisory experience including managing staff (+1 year)
• Experience in working in a restaurant / catering role / similar related field (+1 year)
• Experience in delivering training to new and existing staff
• Knowledge of Food Safety, Allergens and Health & Safety policies
• LV2 Food Safety and Allergens training

Responsibilities

• Ensure day-to-day smooth running of the retail restaurant outlets.
• Train new starters and provide refresher training.
• Maintain hygiene and ensure high cleaning standards.
• Manage freshness and stock controls including date coding.
• Monitor allergen controls in line with policies.
• Plan daily tasks and support peak periods; monitor waste.
