Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an enthusiastic Apprentice Pensions Officer to join the Pensions Team at Five Ways. You will support a section of pension members, providing subject matter expertise on the NHS Pension Scheme, prioritising workloads to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Must not already have a qualification in the specific apprenticeship standard.
• Must have resided in the UK for 3 years; visa must cover the duration of the apprenticeship.
• NHS Pensions experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
• Organised and efficient, able to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication with a calm, friendly telephone manner.
• Ability to understand complex legislation and best practice in pensions.
• Solid IT skills: Word, Excel and Outlook are essential.

Responsibilities

• Look after an allocated section of NHS pension members and provide subject matter expertise on the NHS Pension Scheme.
• Process payroll systems and view/amend pension records; manage input and checks of pension data.
• Perform basic and complex pension calculations and handle sensitive information securely.
• Ensure pensions work complies with Audit and Standing Financial Instructions.
• Support delivery of efficient, high-quality pension services to Trust staff and other NHS Trusts.
