Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting a Storekeeper and relief Kitchen Porter for the Catering department in Preston and Chorley. The role is 22.5 hours per week across five days of seven, with shifts from early to evening and some time in cold storage.

You will deliver, receive and store goods, help with kitchen portering and maintain hygiene in a healthcare setting. A valid UK driving licence is required; prior stores or driving experience is helpful but not essential.

Qualifications

• GCSE level or equivalent is required.
• Awareness of hospital catering roles and confidentiality in NHS environments.
• Understanding of hygiene and health and safety standards in healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods, meal trolleys and requisitions to wards and catering areas using Trust vehicles.
• Receive deliveries and check accuracy against orders.
• Store food items properly and rotate stock.
• Assist with stock taking and daily ordering of perishables.
• Make routine deliveries and collections between Preston and Chorley sites.
• Support kitchen portering tasks and cleaning of kitchen areas.
• Maintain high hygiene standards across the department.
• Report hazards and defective equipment to the supervisor.
• Communicate needs with colleagues and customers.
