Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Lancashire is recruiting a Health Care Assistant to join Ward 15b on a full-time 37.5-hour contract. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and receive essential training to deliver high‑quality patient care.

The role involves assisting with daily tasks, taking observations, supporting personal care, meal times, and documenting care plans.

Qualifications

• Good general education standards.
• Completion of the Care Certificate.
• Experience in a hospital or care setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the care of patients under supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Take and record observations such as temperature, BP and BMI.
• Perform urinalysis as required.
• Venepuncture if trained.
• Assist patients at meal times and document intake.
• Measure and manage fluid balances.
• Follow care plans set out by nursing staff.
• ECG recording where trained.
• Wound care if required.
• Maintain daily ward cleanliness.
• Complete patient paperwork as directed.
