Prospero Teaching is partnering with a SEN school in Newcastle to recruit a dedicated support practitioner. The role involves assisting pupils with varied SEN on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, ensuring a safe and engaging classroom.

Pupils have ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD and SEMH; some may be non-verbal and some may require Personal Care, so a flexible, compassionate approach is essential. The position starts ASAP; pay ranges from £93-£115 per day, and is full-time until the end of the Academic Year

Competenze

• Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
• Experience of working with Children in UK Schools
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Resilient, proactive and positive in nature
• Right to Work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one
• Provide two professional child-related references covering the last two years

About the School:

The role is based in an inspirational SEN School across Newcastle.

The School supports pupils across the 2-19 age range and there are opportunities to support pupils across all Primary and Secondary School year groups depending on your preference and specialism.

The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work as a Team within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils.

Pay, Hours and Contract:

• Pay - Between £93-115 per day
• Hours - 08.30-16.00
• Contract - Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2027. Temporary Contract.
• Start Date - ASAP
• Location - Newcastle

About the Role:

The role will involve supporting pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

The School supports pupils with a range of SEN such as varying levels of ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD and SEMH

Additionally, some pupils may be none-verbal and some may require Personal Care so a willingness to support pupils in these contexts is key.

A key part of the role will be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
• Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
• An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
• A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
