Job summary

Intermountain Health in Grand Junction, CO is seeking a Graduate Nurse Resident upon licensure. The role supports RN supervision, with progression to residency cohorts after licensure. Nurses will gain hands-on experience in patient care, assessments, and care planning within a collaborative team.

The position emphasizes infection prevention, patient safety, and timely communication with the care team. A BLS-HCP certification is required or obtained within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Unlicensed BSN/ADN graduate from an accredited program with completed clinical coursework.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BLS-HCP certification on hire or within 60 days with approval.

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient care needs by answering call lights and assisting with hygiene and nutrition.
• Perform clinical skills within competency: IVs, catheters, wounds, venipuncture, vitals, intake and output.
• Perform secondary assessments under RN supervision to support care.
• Educate patients and families about disease processes, medications, and care plan.
• May administer medications under RN supervision with required dual sign-off.
• Document patient care with RN review and co-signature; maintain accurate records.
• Assist nurses and physicians within scope of practice and established competencies.
• Contribute to patient experience and quality care goals.
• Assist with transfers, admissions, and discharges following safe handling practices.
• Adhere to infection prevention standards and participate in float/on-call duties as needed.
