Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is recruiting for a part-time specialist role within the Specialist Children’s service to address neurodevelopmental needs of children and families. The post involves assessment, post-diagnostic intervention, and consultancy across services, with emphasis on localised support and education partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team to ensure coordinated care.
• Provide specialist advice, guidance and support to patients, carers, education staff and partner agencies.
• Coordinate care and interventions across services, ensuring effective communication and continuity of care.
• Supervise, support and develop junior staff and healthcare support workers, contributing to learning and service development.
• Contribute to service improvement, clinical governance, audit and quality assurance activities to enhance patient outcomes.

Working within the Specialist Children’s service in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, which encompasses Community Paediatrics, CAMHS, Neurodevelopmental & Acute Paediatrics, you will be committed to addressing the health and wellbeing needs of children, young people and their families. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• West Centre, Kinfauns Drive, Drumchapel
• Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00
• Part-time (28.8 hours)
• Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours

Key responsibilities:

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

You will work in multi-disciplinary teams whose aim is to provide high quality support, assessment and interventions in line with evidence based practice and national policies/ agendas. You will have knowledge and experience of working in teams where care is coordinated and you will fully understand the impact of integrated care and services. You will be professionally registered and have relevant experience in planning and providing person centred and outcome based care.

A strong culture of support, development, CPD, reflective practice and supervision exists to maximise our patient’s experience, safety and outcomes and your career progression. We are ambitious in our visioning for the future and are clear about the need to further develop integrated services that ensure that children, young people and families receive the right support, at the right time and in a way that best meets their needs. As such, you will be required to be person centred and innovative in your thinking and practice, with excellent ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with children, young people, their families, health and partner agencies.

You are required to be HCPC/NMC registered (or relevant professional body), have relevant experience in neurodevelopment assessment, diagnosis and support strategies. You should be confident in the uni-professional value add for these young people and their families and be able to evidence transferrable skills to children and young people with neurodevelopmental impact. We are looking for someone who is organised, motivated and is looking to be part of a developing service. You must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills when working with children, young people and their families. You must also be able to demonstrate excellent team working and communication skills.

Training and support for your professional development will be provided and we are committed to regular supervision, both uni-professional as well as part of multi-disciplinary team to support reflection, and evidence-based practice. It will be an advantage to have experience of assessment and intervention for children and young people with neurodevelopmental differences.
