Job summary

BT Group is seeking Network Security 2nd Line Firewall Engineers across Belfast, Hatfield, Sheffield and Manchester. The role focuses on complex network security deployments, incident response, and security advisory services for BT and client contracts.

A 3-2 hybrid working model is possible with 24x7 coverage. The position requires hands-on firewall expertise (Fortinet, Cisco ASA/FirePower, Palo Alto) and cloud security skills in Azure/AWS, plus scripting in Python/Go/Bash.

Qualifications

• Comptia Network+ and Security+ certifications are required/essential.
• Hands-on experience with major firewall platforms (Fortinet, Cisco ASA/FirePower, Palo Alto).
• Cloud security exposure across Azure and AWS environments.
• scripting skills in Python/Go/Bash for automation.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI model and secure network design principles.
• Maintain current security clearances or eligibility (SC) and UK working history.

Responsibilities

• Serve as cyber incident decision maker and ensure appropriate mitigation controls.
• Provide security advice and remediation to BT and external customers.
• Lead integration testing for new products/services with documentation.
• Support team leader and line manager in day-to-day activities.
• Safeguard sensitive customer information and uphold BT trust.

About the role

This role exists to provide specialist technical support on complex network security and cyber security deployments for any and all of our UK contracts. Building intermate working relationships and trust through effective communication and meeting expectation and deadlines is key. Liaising with customer representatives or vendors and directing other support staff where appropriate will form part of the role.

What you’ll be doing

One key thing that all of our engineers have in common is a desire to develop/deliver brilliant, industry redefining platforms as well as their own skills.

We need you to be a cyber incident decision maker, responsible for ensuring that mitigation controls and incident response are appropriate.

Providing security advice and remediation to Lines of Business within BT and external customers.

Complete and own integration testing on new products and services, producing all relevant supporting documentation.

Positively support team leader and line manager.

Ensure full awareness of the need to safeguard sensitive customer information at all times, so that customers perceive BT to be a trustworthy organisation.

This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
