Job summary

BT Group in Manchester is seeking three experienced Senior Network Engineers to design, implement, and support enterprise-scale network infrastructure, blending hands-on engineering with strategic design for on-prem and cloud environments.

You will architect secure, scalable, and resilient networks meeting business and security requirements, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

Qualifications

  • CCNP or equivalent certification with CCNA minimum.
  • Expertise in switching, routing, load balancing, and network security.
  • Proven track record delivering complex network solutions on time and budget.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with structured analysis.
  • Experience partnering across teams and technologies.
  • Awareness of industry trends and business alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain enterprise-scale LAN, WAN, and hybrid cloud networks.
  • Implement and manage network services including VPNs, VLANs, QoS, DNS, DHCP, ACI and EVPN and segmentation.
  • Deploy and support enterprise-grade routers, switches, and load balancers.
  • Collaborate with security teams to enforce access controls and ensure network compliance.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Monitor network performance, conduct capacity planning, and optimize for reliability.
  • Document network architecture, configurations, and failover strategies.
  • Ensure alignment with IT policies, audit requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Stay up to date with relevant technologies in the area.

About the role

We are seeking three experienced Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and support of enterprise-scale network infrastructure. This role blends hands‑on engineering with strategic design and operational delivery, operational support, both on‑prem and cloud‑based environments.

You will be responsible for architecting secure, scalable, and resilient network solutions that meet business and security requirements, while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

What you’ll be doing
  • Design, configure, and maintain enterprise scale LAN, WAN, and hybrid cloud networks.
  • Implement and manage network services including VPNs, VLANs, QoS, DNS, DHCP, ACI and Evpn and segmentation.
  • Deploy and support enterprise‑grade routers, switches, and load balancers.

  • Document network architecture, configurations, and failover strategies.
  • Ensure alignment with IT policies, audit requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Stay up to date with relevant technologies in the area -Reading, attending briefings and talks.
Essential Skills / Experience
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent experience (CCNA minimum).
  • Demonstrable expertise in switching, routing, load balancing, and network security.
  • Track record of delivering complex network solutions within time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Ability to dissect and resolve technical problems through structured analysis.
  • Experience building effective partnerships across diverse teams and technologies.
  • Awareness of industry trends and ability to align network strategy with broader business goals.
  • Willingness to participate in an on - call rota, as a service to the business as part of a team.
Desirable Skills / Experience
  • Experience with enterprise-scale on-prem virtualisation (VMware).
  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, hybrid environments).
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN, network automation, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, or other enterprise networking platforms.
  • Exposure to monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, NetFlow).
  • Effective documentation and diagramming skills (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart).
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related fields.
