In this role, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our clean water network, booster stations, and service reservoirs in the South division Water Network Area.
What you'll do
An essential element of the role is to implement strategies and actions to overcome the significant challenges associated with achieving Wessex Water's Leakage, Supply Interruption, and Water Quality performance commitments, while being mindful of budget efficiencies and productivity opportunities, and ensuring employee health, safety, and wellbeing are not compromised.
You will also:
- Implement operational strategies to meet the company's strategic PC's, maintaining Wessex Water's position as a top-performing water company.
- Deliver and maintain an efficient 24/7 network operation while managing risks to process and public health.
- Manage field operations to minimize customer water outages due to planned or reactive activities.
- Maintain regional operational emergency supply response capabilities to meet statutory standards.
- Participate in out-of-hours standby duties.
You will have direct reports of one to two Network Supervisors and one Leakage Supervisor, along with twenty to thirty indirect reports (inspectors).
What you'll need
- Operational experience and leadership skills equivalent to HNC level or higher.
- Strong experience in water industry operations.
- Experience managing operational teams and budgets.
- Proven knowledge of water supply networks, including pipeline hydraulics, service reservoirs, leakage operations, R&M, and pressure control.
- Experience managing water supply emergencies at an operational level.
- Knowledge of water treatment processes, water science & quality, and resource strategy, including grid operations.
- Negotiating and influencing skills.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Supportive leadership style fostering innovation and autonomous operation among direct reports.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks and targets.
- Strong knowledge of H&S management procedures and promoting a health, safety, and wellbeing culture.
