Expedia Group’s Network Services Team. Our engineers support Expedia Group’s global eCommerce and corporate networks. We are seeking a high-performing individual contributor (primary focus corporate connectivity) who can apply new engineering principles to improve existing systems and is responsible for leading complex, pre-defined projects.
What you'll do:
- Bring together different stakeholders with varied perspectives to develop solutions to issues, and contribute your own suggestions.
- Think holistically to identify opportunities around policies and processes to increase efficiency across organizational boundaries.
- Assist with a systems approach to analyzing issues by ensuring all components (structure, people, process, and technology) are identified and considered.
- Investigate standard or routine issues or incidents and draft concise, evidence-based reports on findings.
- Conduct rigorous tests and inspections of products, services, solutions, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Analyze requirements and assist with the design of architecture.
- Understand how solutions using technology impact capacity requirements.
- Research information, data, trends, and best practices in emerging technology and share beneficial insights with relevant stakeholders.
Who you are:
- 5+ years of experience in Network Engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in IT or a related technical field; or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficient in installing and configuring enterprise or service provider-grade network hardware.
- Intermediate knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, MPBGP, ISIS).
- Intermediate knowledge of SD WAN solutions, including assessing WAN/ISP performance using network analysis tools.
- Intermediate knowledge of wireless troubleshooting with understanding of RF engineering principles.
- Intermediate knowledge of LAN/dot.1x technologies/protocols (e.g., Cisco ISE).
- Experience with creating wireless predictive designs and conducting post-installation surveys using Ekahau wireless tools.
- Intermediate knowledge of firewall technologies, IPS/IDS (e.g., Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Cisco Firepower, AWS Network Firewall, ZScaler products).
- Intermediate knowledge of remote VPN solutions (e.g., Cisco AnyConnect, PA Global Protect).
- Experience with platforms offered by major network vendors (e.g., Cisco, Meraki, Juniper, HPE/Aruba, Arista, ZScaler).
- Intermediate knowledge of models used for network state representation and configuration (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, IPFIX, Netconf, Restconf, gRPC).
- Knowledge of monitoring platforms (experience with DataDog is a plus).
- Perform routine network management for LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
- Basic to intermediate skills in software automation languages (e.g., Python, Java).
- Ability to analyze data patterns to identify underlying issues.
- Understand the business impact of technology problems.
- Research and recommend solutions based on industry trends.
- Implement solutions based on standard practices and escalate complex issues as needed.
- Nice to have: relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CCNP).
- Nice to have: experience maintaining and enhancing production network services in cloud infrastructure.
- Nice to have: experience implementing infrastructure as code pipelines.
- Nice to have: creating APIs for business use.
