Job summary

Viridien in the UK is seeking a Network Engineer to support operation, reliability and continuous improvement of its global enterprise and data centre network infrastructure. Based in the Network Operations team at the UK HPC Hub, you will help improve resilience, performance and security of Viridien's networks.

You will monitor daily operations, deploy routing, switching and firewall policies, participate in projects and on-call rotations, and maintain technical documentation and standards.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in enterprise/datacentre/network environments.
• Hands-on configuring, supporting and troubleshooting production network infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of routing (BGP/OSPF), switching, WAN, firewall and security fundamentals.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS and VPNs.
• Experience with monitoring/observability platforms.
• Ability to work in a collaborative technical team.

Responsibilities

• Support, maintain and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure across WAN, LAN, data centre, cloud-connected and security environments.
• Monitor daily data centre operations.
• Deploy, configure and monitor routing, switching, firewall and network security platforms.
• Investigate incidents and support root cause analysis.
• Maintain documentation, diagrams, standards and procedures.
• Collaborate with vendors, service providers and stakeholders.
• Participate in on-call rotations and out-of-hours maintenance.
