Job summary

Akkodis in Sheffield is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to take ownership of day-to-day network operations, keeping core routers, switches and firewalls running smoothly. You will support upgrades and new sites, while collaborating with colleagues across engineering and support.

You'll drive network automation using Python, Ansible and Terraform, maintain rigorous documentation, and follow security and operational best practices in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP and common protocols).
• Hands-on experience configuring routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Strong Linux knowledge and command-line experience.
• Experience delivering technical support in a customer-focused environment.
• Clear communication, strong problem-solving skills, and prioritisation ability.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day network operations, keeping routers, switches and firewalls running.
• Support network upgrades and new site integrations.
• Assist with network automation using Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
• Collaborate with engineering and support teams and maintain clear documentation.
