Job description

In order for Royal Mail to run a safe, efficient and cost effective fleet, the Network Distribution System Administrator would be expected to carry out the following tasks:

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that the Distribution Management System is kept up to date and data correctly input daily, all drivers are de-briefed at the end of their duty.
  • Ensure that CDU/FTA is kept up to date and data correctly input daily to ensure compliance with European Legislation.
  • Issue vehicle keys and logbooks in line with Royal Mail standards.
  • Ensure digital tacho cards are downloaded in line with Royal Mail policy.
  • Daily debrief all drivers; any unresolved issues passed to shift manager.
  • Work with Fleet to ensure planned maintenance is carried out and the maintenance board and vehicle files are kept up to date.
  • Use BATs system to correctly allocate drivers to duties.
  • Use C3 system along with communication with Flowroom to correctly allocate trailer/duties to their destination.
  • Cover all OPG roles and responsibilities on all shifts (Reserve Position Only).
  • After training, cover all other OPG roles in the department in emergencies.
  • Be organized, independent, self‑motivated, friendly, professional, and able to work well under pressure.
  • Be happy in a fast‑paced changing environment and have a strong sense of community.
  • Be computer literate with good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Be willing to work toward targets and overcome challenges.
  • Hold one of the following positions: Late Shift Gate House Operative (Mon‑Thu 14:00‑23:15), Night Shift Keys & Tabs Operative (Mon‑Fri 22:00‑05:24), or Reserve Role Operative covering all shifts and frontline roles.
