Job summary

Severn Trent Water is recruiting a Network Construction Operative to deliver mains renewal on a local site in the Midlands. You will work within a six-person crew to excavate, install, test and commission new mains and assets, ensuring safe, reliable water supply with minimal disruption to customers.

This role requires a 42-hour week (Mon-Fri, 7:30–16:30, Fri 16:00 finish). A full driving licence and National Water Hygiene/NRSWA are preferred, with strong communication and teamwork essential.

We are looking for a Network ConstructionOperativeto come in and work as part of a team to successfully deliver Mains Renewal construction activity for a specific site within one of the 4 regions (North, South, East and West).

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As the Network Construction Operative your key role will be to ensure we provide good wholesome water with minimal disruption to our customers.

You will undertake significant, large scale construction activity on-site ina single location, involving a wide range of activities including excavation, installation, testing and commission of new mains and assets.

You willbe responsible forthe safe and efficient delivery of Mains Renewal large-scale construction onsite activities, working as part of a team of 6 and focussing on water mains activity.

Within this role you will undertake significant excavation activity, ensuring these are safe and secure, and that all domestic and commercial access ismaintained. Large scale excavation, installation, testing and commission of new mains, assets, customer supplypipesand boundary boxes.

This role requires a 42-hour work week, Monday to Friday, starting at 7:30 AM and ending at 4:30 PM, with a half-hour early finish at 4:00 PM on Fridays.

Key Accountability:

  • Identifyand mitigate against potential hazards and document findings in a daily dynamic risk assessment.
  • Undertaking the safe location and avoidance of underground. Safe andtimelyremoval and disposal of asbestos
  • Liaise with customers providing support as required and updates throughout each DMA renewal andmaintaincustomers supply with sufficient riders/overlanders as per the design.
  • Implement trenchless solutions where possible to mitigate cost and disruption to the infrastructure.
  • Standby isrequired
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

For thisrolethe right candidate will have a full driving license and ideally have your National Water Hygiene and NRSWA withsignificant experienceworking within utility-based industry.

You’llhavegood communicationskills and the ability to build successful working relationships as you will be working as part of a team.
