Job summary

Addition is seeking a hands-on network engineer to own 2nd/3rd line incidents across LAN/WAN, firewalls and wireless in a hybrid London setting. You’ll troubleshoot complex environments from multiple vendors, implement changes with clear communication, and drive health checks to prevent outages.

The role offers varied exposure to networks, security, and performance tuning, with support for training, certifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on networking fundamentals (VLANs, STP, OSPF/BGP, QoS, redundancy).
  • Firewall experience with VPNs, NAT, HA, troubleshooting across multiple vendors.
  • Solid wireless knowledge, controller-based deployments, SSIDs, coverage and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Taking 2nd/3rd line ownership of escalated network incidents across LAN/WAN, firewalls and wireless.
  • Troubleshooting complex multi-vendor environments, driving root cause analysis and permanent fixes.
  • Managing and delivering routine and emergency changes with clear communications.
  • Proactively monitoring, tuning and health-checking networks to prevent issues before customers are affected.
  • Working with project/architecture teams to ensure smooth go-lives and continual improvement.

Join a connectivity-focused technology team where keeping customers online, secure, and performing at their best is the day job. This role is all about owning the stability of network services, stepping in when things go wrong, tightening performance day-to-day, and making sure change is delivered cleanly with minimal risk.

Role Overview
  • Location: London (3 days in the office / 2 days remote)
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Taking 2nd/3rd line ownership of escalated network incidents across LAN/WAN, firewalls and wireless
  • Troubleshooting complex multi-vendor environments, driving root cause analysis and permanent fixes
  • Managing and delivering routine and emergency changes (patching, firmware, config updates) with clear comms
  • Proactively monitoring, tuning and health-checking networks to prevent issues before they hit customers
  • Working closely with project/architecture teams to ensure smooth go-lives, service transition and continuous improvement
Main Skills Needed:
  • Strong hands-on networking fundamentals (VLANs, STP, OSPF/BGP, QoS, redundancy)
  • Firewall experience (Cisco / Meraki / WatchGuard) including VPNs, NAT, HA and troubleshooting
  • Solid wireless knowledge (controller-based deployments, SSIDs, security, coverage/performance)
  • Experience with monitoring/tooling such as PRTG, Nagios, Meraki Dashboard (or similar)
  • Confident in incident/change processes, customer communication, documentation and vendor/ISP escalation
