About the role:

Are you passionate about helping communities stay informed and connected?

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of Devon & Cornwall Police’s Community Messaging system to help make sure important information reaches the right people at the right time.

The two-way messaging platform connects the Force with local communities, enabling policing teams to write and share crime prevention advice, important updates and safety information directly to residents.

Working closely with police officers and police staff, you'll play a key role in proof reading and distributing messages, maintaining the system, supporting and training users and analysing performance data to help maximise the system.

In particular to:

Respond to operational need as identified and ensure timely and accurately updates are sent on the Alert system.

Copywriting, proof reading, design and dissemination of public facing messages on the system, which might also be placed on the website and social media platforms.

Identify common message topics based on regular requests from users, developing templates to fulfil these needs and promoting them to other colleagues who use the system.

Ensure branding is applied and consistent in all messaging.

Quality assures all messages on the system by dip sampling.

Maintain and administer the database, acting as the main point of contact for any system issues.

Attend internal and external meetings in relation to the performance and development of the Alert system, providing feedback to system providers and users.

Establish and maintain communication with partners in the criminal justice and public safety arena, in order to action joint messages when appropriate.

Extract performance data and other management information on the output and outcome of the Alert system and create monthly reports.

Market the service, internally and externally, maximising the opportunities for effective usage.

Train colleagues to use the Neighbourhood Alert System across the organisation and provide ad hoc user support in real time as issues arise.

You’ll be at the heart of a service that supports public safety and reassurance across Devon and Cornwall.
