Job summary

Mint Selection client seeks an experienced NEC Supervisor to support delivery of a flagship pumped-storage hydro project in the UK. You will act as the client's named NEC Supervisor across multiple high-value contracts, ensuring quality, inspection compliance and defect management throughout the lifecycle.

This role offers hybrid working during early phases with transition to site-based work, a competitive salary and comprehensive package. NEC3/NEC4 expertise and ISO 9001 knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience acting as an NEC3/NEC4 Supervisor on large-scale infrastructure (£300m+).
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contract administration and quality management.
  • Proven expertise in construction quality systems (ISO 9001) and ITP implementation.
  • Experience across civils, mechanical, electrical and HV packages.
  • Solid understanding of CDM and UK construction health and safety regulations.
  • Experience with energy, hydro, or major power projects is highly desirable.
  • NEC Supervisor accreditation desirable.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the named NEC4 Supervisor across multiple contracts, ensuring works meet scope and quality.
  • Conduct site inspections, witness testing, manage defects from NCR to close-out.
  • Lead ITP implementation, including hold points and surveillance across disciplines.
  • Manage NCR process, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Verify progress against programmes and support payment certification.
  • Witness FAT/SAT and pre-commissioning activities with commissioning teams.
  • Review and approve contractor quality documentation.
  • Maintain inspection records and provide assurance reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure health and safety practices align with regulations.
  • Support commissioning and handover, including punch-lists and take-over readiness.
  • Provide leadership to site inspection personnel and coordinate third-party inspectors.
  • Produce regular reporting on inspections and quality trends.

Our client, a developer of large-scale energy infrastructure, is seeking an experienced NEC Supervisor to support the delivery of a flagship pumped-storage hydro project in the UK. This nationally significant scheme will play a critical role in strengthening energy security and supporting the transition to net zero.

The successful candidate will act as the client’s named NEC Supervisor across multiple high-value construction contracts, ensuring quality assurance, inspection compliance, and defect management throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the named NEC4 Supervisor across multiple construction contracts, ensuring works comply fully with contractual scope and quality requirements.

  • Conduct site inspections, witness testing activities, and manage defect identification, notification, and close-out processes.

  • Lead inspection and test plan (ITP) implementation, including hold points, witness points, and surveillance strategies across civil, mechanical, electrical, and high-voltage scopes.

  • Manage non-conformance reporting (NCR), including tracking, root cause analysis, and verification of corrective actions.

  • Verify site progress against accepted programmes and commercial schedules, supporting payment certification and compensation event assessments.

  • Witness factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and pre-commissioning activities in coordination with commissioning teams.

  • Review and approve contractor quality documentation, including quality plans, material submissions, and as-built records.

  • Maintain inspection records and defect registers, providing assurance reporting to senior stakeholders.

  • Ensure strong health and safety practices by aligning inspection activities with construction regulations and contractor systems.

  • Collaborate with contractors and project stakeholders while maintaining independence in certification duties.

  • Support commissioning and handover activities, including completion systems, punch-list management, and take-over readiness.

  • Provide leadership to site-based inspection personnel and manage specialist third-party inspectors where required.

  • Produce regular reporting on inspections, defects, and quality performance trends.

Experience & Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience acting as an NEC3/NEC4 Supervisor or in a senior client-side inspection/quality role on large-scale infrastructure projects (£300m+).

  • Strong knowledge of NEC contract administration, particularly Supervisor responsibilities and quality management provisions.

  • Proven expertise in construction quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001), inspection planning, and materials and workmanship assurance.

  • Experience working across multi-disciplinary packages (civils, mechanical, electrical, and high-voltage systems).

  • Strong understanding of UK construction health and safety regulations (e.g. CDM).

  • Experience with major energy, hydro, or power infrastructure projects is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with testing and commissioning processes, including high-voltage systems and rotating equipment, is advantageous.

  • Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or related discipline) or equivalent experience; professional chartership preferred.

  • NEC Supervisor accreditation desirable.

  • Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
