Job summary

Assystem is seeking a Construction Supervisor (NEC4) to join our UK nuclear sector team. You will oversee site activities, ensuring contractors meet safety, quality and contract requirements while supporting HSQE tasks and commissioning.

This is a senior role requiring extensive civil construction experience within regulated environments. You will report to the Construction Manager and collaborate with Project Managers and stakeholders to drive successful delivery on nationally significant

Responsibilities

• Act as the NEC4 Supervisor, ensuring works comply with contract requirements and project scope.

• Review contractor documentation, including ITPs, Quality Plans, and construction methods.
• Work closely with Project Managers, contractors, and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
• Maintain accurate site records, reports, and project documentation.
• Monitor contractor health and safety performance and support HSQE activities.
• Contribute to commissioning, lessons learned, and continuous improvement across projects.

Construction Supervisor (NEC4)

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Construction Supervisor to join our growing team, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects within the UK nuclear sector. Reporting to the Construction Manager, you’ll oversee site activities, ensuring contractors deliver work safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Working as part of the client team, you’ll primarily fulfil the NEC4 Supervisor role while supporting wider HSQE activities on site. This is an excellent opportunity to work on nationally significant projects within a highly regulated environment.

What You’ll Do

• Act as the NEC4 Supervisor, ensuring works comply with contract requirements and project scope.

Qualifications

Essential

• Experience supervising construction works on large civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Good understanding of NEC4 contracts and the Supervisor role.
• Strong knowledge of construction quality, health and safety, and site inspections.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within regulated environments and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of CDM Regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience delivering major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Experience in heavy civil construction, including groundworks, utilities, temporary works, reinforced concrete, and structural steel.
• Experience working within highly regulated environments with robust safety and quality management systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a collaborative approach to problem‑solving.
• Able to work proactively and confidently in complex project environments.

Desirable

• Experience within the Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas, or other highly regulated industries.
• Knowledge of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning activities.
• Experience with regulated control of work systems (e.g. NSAG or similar).
• Relevant construction or engineering qualifications.
• NEC4 Supervisor Accreditation (or willingness to achieve within six months).
• Previous experience in the Nuclear sector.
• Experience delivering building, prefabrication, or MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control) works.
• HNC/HND (or higher) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• SMSTS, CITB CSCS Black Card, IOSH Managing Safely, and First Aid certification.
