Job summary

Capita plc is advertising a Workshop/Handskills Trainer role at HMS Sultan. This training-focused position mentors Royal Navy trainees, helping them build essential mechanical hand skills and confidence within a structured learning environment. Full teacher training is delivered on site, with ongoing support to help you succeed.

The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, 45 weeks per year, with pro rata salary. You must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Teaching Qualification or Defence Train The Trainer Course (or equivalent)
• Previous instructional experience in a military or civilian engineering environment
• Strong engineering background with mechanical or fabrication experience
• Practical workshop experience and confidence using hand tools and machinery
• Proficiency in IT (hardware/software) for training delivery

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality training in Mechanical Craft and Fabrication
• Develop practical hand skills including fitting and filing
• Interpret and teach basic technical drawings
• Instruct on safe use of workshop equipment
• Embed Health & Safety practices in all workshop activities
• Coach and provide constructive feedback to trainees
